Intro.

The advances in coherent control and measurement techniques of quantum systems will soon allow the practical use of quantum information technology. The Spin Quantum Information Lab will explore quantum information science using spin qubits of point defects in semiconductors. The semiconductor-based qubit device has an advantage in the development of quantum information devices thanks to the advanced semiconductor fabrication technology. In addition, quantum properties of well-isolated point defects in high-quality semiconductors can be comparable to those of single atoms. In particular, color centers, which are point defects emitting photons, can mediate the spin-photon interaction between photons and spins. Thus, the so-called spin-photon interface can be used to establish entanglement between a photon qubit and a spin qubit (quantum memory). In our lab, we study the spin-photon interface to develop a quantum repeater-based quantum network and quantum sensor devices. We also investigate new magnetic resonance spectroscopy techniques using spin-photon interaction.
